About Us
ISOC Lesotho Chapter
Internet Society is a global cause-driven organization governed by a diverse Board of Trustees that is dedicated to ensuring that the Internet stays open, transparent and defined by you. The Internet Society was founded in 1992 by a number of people involved with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). From those early days, one of our principal rationales is to provide an organizational home for and financial support for the Internet standards process.
In the Internet’s short history, we have already witnessed attempts to shut down or limit discussions on key issues such as network neutrality, or to reframe the implications of policies, such as those that relate to cybersecurity. What we learn repeatedly is that the best and most lasting solutions are ones that we arrive at through cooperation and mutual respect, that are rooted in principle, and that open the door to innovation.
ISOC have more than 100 local chapters all over the world. The chapters push the global ISOC mandate at local and regional level. The chapters push the global ISOC mandate at local and regional level. They provide unique local and regional perspectives on emerging Internet issues. Chapters run programs and activities dedicated, among other things, to informing policy and educating the public about Internet-related issues.
The Internet Society Lesotho Chapter was successfully chartered in 2018. The chapter is still operational with about one hundred and forty nine (149) members to date.
